Winding Down
We have one more feral spay date this month and then we need to stop ferals = trapping of new clients is over. We will still be neutering the friendlies and fosters so you will see new numbers posted but ferals are done for the year. This is incredibly stressful, but resources are limited everywhere. Telling people that we cannot help them is downright excruciating. We started early in the year, cannot TNR all year long. We are exhausted. When it takes as much trapping effort to trap one cat as a colony of 20 – which should we pursue? Difficult to explain to people that we are all volunteers with so many personal demands that are not being taken care of. Please do the best you can in providing care, shelter, food, water for the cats and we will see you end of February depending on the weather. You can also contact Spay IL on your own. As of Thursday, we had neutered 743 cats so far this year with limited resources.
10/8 – ADOPT – 4 friendlies, 3 female, 1 male.
10/9 – ADOPT – 10 friendlies, 4 female, 6 male
10/10 – DCAS – 2 friendlies, 28 ferals, 15 males, 15 females. One very undersized female had a congenital deformity in that she had almost no muscle mass, vet could not believe she was even able to walk, she was euthanized as her ability to survive was less than 1 out of 9. 10 more cats from Darien, new location in Bensenville = 9 adults and 5 kittens. And still so many oranges!
Total: October to date 76, 2024 to date 743, since our start 15,623.
