Feral Fixers made two more trips to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic this past week, bringing in cats to be spayed/neutered. Feral Fixers President Tammy tells us the details:

On Wednesday, 11/4, Feral Fixers sent 5 ferals to PAWS. Charli transported in the AM and Debbie picked up in the PM. There were 3 females and 2 males.

On Thursday, 8 friendlies and 21 ferals made the trip into PAWS, transported by Charli & Debbie doing AM transport and Dedra and Heather making the PM run. There were 18 females and 11 males, one of which had a very large, severe wound on his hindquarters - such wounds can require months of care and nearly impossible on a feral cat, so was euthanized. This is very hard on the PAWS staff, euthanizing is the last thing they want to do. Along with the high number of females, they had a rough day yesterday!

With these two trips, we have neutered 33 for the week and month of November, 1,008 for 2015 and 8,286 since our beginning!

Thanks again to our super-transport-volunteers Charli, Debbie, Charli (again!) Debbie (again!), Dedra and Heather.

And, I believe it's worth pointing out that this is the sixth year in a row that Feral Fixers has spayed/neutered more than 1,000 cats. With my inability to do transport for a large part of the year and with other volunteer shortages that have plagued Feral Fixers this year, 2015 has been the most challenging year for us in terms of getting cats fixed. Feral Fixers president Tammy and all of the volunteers deserve enormous kudos for, once again, reaching this yearly milestone!
