On Saturday, August 15th, Feral Fixers held another in its series of Adoption Events at the PetSmart located in Rice Lake Square in Wheaton. Feral Fixers Board Member and Adoption Coordinator Sue gives us the details:

We had a very busy and successful adoption event at the Rice Lake Square PetSmart on Saturday, 8/15! Lots and lots of folks came and visited our kittens, and 3 kittens found their forever homes :-)

Kipp, a handsome buff tabby boy, was adopted by a wonderful animal-loving family in Roselle. I heard from Joanna that they also adopted Happy today to be Kipp's companion. I think the 2 boys will have a lot of fun together and be clearly loved by this family.

Kia, Kipp's sister, was the second adoption of the event. She is a beautiful black & orange tabby with white. She was adopted by a terrific mom and her very well-mannered teenage daughter, who live in Plainfield. I expect Kia will spend most of her time in this girl's room :-) They were first time kitty adopters, so we helped them select all of their supplies.

Kato, Kia & Kipps' brother, was the third adoption of the event. He was adopted by a wonderful family from Glen Ellyn with 3 school age children. Kato seemed to have boundless energy at the event, and the children really enjoyed playing with him. I think they will have a lot of fun together. They were also first time kitty adopters, so we helped to get them set up as well.

So - three adoptions all from the same litter, who was being fostered by Marissa. Thanks much, Marissa, for your great work in socializing these kittens and getting them ready for this opportunity! Don't worry, fosters, the time will come for your litters or adults as well.

Many thanks to all of the fosters who brought their cats & kittens to this event, including Bethany, Monica, Cheri, Maureen, Michelle, Debbie, Barb/Taylor, Julie/Vey, Marissa, Katie, and Judy. We had 28 cats (7 adults and 21 kittens) in attendance: Adults - Castle, Foxy Lady, Honey, Pike, Storm, Zeke, Zeva Kittens - Addison, Cafferty, Farrah, Evangelina, Ezra, Hailey, Halo, Hamilton, Hannah, Hasbro, Kato, Kia, Kipp, Largo, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Star, Stewie, Stitch, Stripe

It was the first appearance for several of our little ones - Evangelina, Ezra, Farrah, Hailey, Halo, Hamilton, Hannah, Hasbro. They will be posted on our web site shortly. Kato, Kia and Kipp didn't even make it to the web site!

Many thanks also to the wonderful volunteers (Bernie, Toni, Lauren) who worked so hard on the set-up, clean-up and potential adopter interaction during the event. Special thanks to the fosters who also helped with this activity (Debbie, Bethany, Maureen, Cheri, Michelle, Julie, Vey, Judy), and to Tammy, who stopped by to show her support.

This event had an added touch of professionalism, thanks to Maureen. We now all have custom name tags, as well as name tags for the cats/kittens in each cage. Thanks, Maureen, for providing these, and to Lauren, Bernie and Toni for creating the cat/kitten labels. Monica, you were our inspiration with your very professional laminated cage cards for your kitties :-)

Outside the event, we had 3 more adoptions - Timmy, the little black boy with the amputated back leg, was adopted by a wonderful vet tech from Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital. Linsey, a beautiful buff long hair lady, who is very shy, was taken as a foster to adopt by a very experienced and patient adopter from Franklin Park. Riley, a handsome & spunky Russian Blue mix boy, was adopted by a terrific family from Clarendon Hills. Timmy and Riley had not made it to the web site yet!

So all in all, 8/15 was a great day! We look forward to more similar days going forward, as we have many, many wonderful cats & kittens looking for loving homes.

Our next event is next Saturday, 8/22 - "All the Comforts of Home". It is a special adoption event coupled with TNR education session that will be held at Kim Marrazzo's house in Lisle, 4485 St. Tropez Drive, 11am-3pm. Please join us and be able to interact with your next kitty companion in an actual home environment. We will have a Feral Fixers Boutique, Raffle and Refreshments. Hope to see you there!

Thanks everyone and a special thanks to Sue - our Adoption Guru!
