We brought three more cats into the PAWS-Chicago spay/neuter clinic to be processed today. All three were ferals, but we have hopes that one might eventually become an indoor cat and so had it tested for FiV and FeLV. Fortunately, "Brit Chip" tested negative on both counts, so let's keep our fingers crossed that this cat eventually decides that a domestic life is a good life...

Super-volunteer Jennifer picked up the cats from Tammy's house today and brought them into PAWS (Thanks Jennifer!) while I picked them up from PAWS and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery. All was uneventful except for...

The GusMobile has arrived! This is a mobile spay/neuter - surgical unit that PAWS has had on order for some time. PAWS employees Sue Robinson and Laura Hinze flew to Dayton, Ohio to pick it up last week and drove it back to Chicago. After some preliminary testing and the inevitable teething pains, it is now in operation. It was parked to the of the building that houses PAWS and they did some of their spay/neuter surgeries in it today. This is just another step that PAWS is taking to help end the severe pet over-population problem in Chicago and surrounding Cook County. PAWS - you rock!

There is no story up yet on the PAWS website about this unit, but I did find this URL giving a brief mention that "Phil & Janice Beck" funded this project. Thank you!

With these three cats, Feral Fixers has now processed 33 cats for this month, 80 so far this year and 2,561 overall.
